
SAHELI was formed in 2004 in response to a collective call from economically disadvantaged women in the Basta and Rasgovindpur Community Development (CD) Blocks of Balasore and Mayurbhanj districts in Odisha, India. These women, belonging primarily to Scheduled Tribes (Adivasis) and other marginalized communities, sought a platform that could meaningfully address their social, economic, and human rights concerns.
A society where dignity of women belonging to all sections of population, especially those belonging to vulnerable sections, respected and women gain equal opportunities in all frontiers of life.
Empowering all sections of society through appropriate institutions and processes and place such institutions in operational collaborative relations with governments and other stakeholders for integrated development with equal dignity for women as the focal point.
Overall goals of the organization is a community where all forms of violence against women got eliminated and girl children lead lives free from discrimination and violence. Achievement of this goal contributes to the vision of the organization
SAHELI works with a focused objective of ending incidences of child marriage among its target communities. The organization follows a structured process of case identification, informing all the concerned, intervene along with local governments and leadership as well as local communities, and intimate all responsible for vigilance.
